What career opportunities are available for a Master’s in Applied Math?

March 5th, 2010

I am considering getting a Bachelor’s and then Master’s in Applied Math since I am good at that subject. But I do not really know what job and career opportunities are available.

If you could list some jobs that require a degree in Applied Maths I would appreciate it.

Thank you :) I’m curious, I can become an engineer without majoring in engineering?

Something in engineering, fluid dynamics etc.

I think so. I’m not sure what exactly you will cover in applied maths. I assumed that you will do numerical solutions of pde’s, which is a huge part of fluid dynamics etc in engineering.

I’m guessing you will also do a fair amount of statistics too, if you wanted to go down that line(actuary etc).

Of course it will be difficult to compete against people who have specialised in theses areas, but you leave your options open.
