17 Year old trying to get emancipated needs a job!? Okay you guys here’s the deal. I am a 17 year old girl living in Canton, Ohio (Ill be 17 June 5th) Ive already graduated high school. I am in desperate need of a pretty good paying job. The catch is I wont be able to stay in Ohio past July due to an agreement me and my parents kind of have. I need a job and an apartment here in order to get emancipated. $500/month wont do. I am going to need anywhere from $400-$600 a week to live here. Because of me moving so close to getting a job, an online job would be best for me. The biggest problem is all I keep running into are scams. I don’t need a scam. I need an legit job to prove to the judge I have what it takes to make a living. Very few employers here in Canton aren’t hiring and I cant travel more than 15 miles to work. I need to work 8+ hours a day and at least 5 days a week. I am a very determined person. I do not want people suggesting to me that I shouldn’t be moving out or away at 17. I live in a very bad situation and calling CPS isn’t going to make things better or give me any help at all. I would like people to give me legit jobs to be able to show a judge here that I can do things for myself. I don’t have a problem going out and working, the issue is that there is no work here. I am pretty sure an online job would suffice for the judge. It would also work for me because I can take it anywhere and move. Please please please please help me. Thanks you guys.

What job skills do you have? It’s very rare for a 17-year-old to have much in the way of marketable skills; they simply haven’t had life experience, job training, or higher education, and often don’t have the focus or attention span of adults. This is why most teens get "Ya want fries with that?" jobs - which, as you’ve realized, are very, very difficult to live on. You have to show that you deserve a $30,000+/year job, just like any other job searcher, though you have your youth and inexperience against you. What kind of skills do you have to earn that much with?
Your question is all about how you need/want such a job. What you have to do is think in terms of your potential boss — why would someone hire you? How can you show that you deserve the job and would benefit your employer more than the other applicants? Forget why YOU want the job; you want to be able to tell your future employer why THEY want YOU.
As you have found, online jobs are about like hens’ teeth. There are a few legit ones, but people looking for online jobs FAR outnumber the few available. More successful "online jobs" are ones where people in an existing job convince their bosses to let them telecommute; or people doing independent contracting work such as programming or web design, rather than standard, ongoing jobs. Do you have skills that would apply to such work? How would you obtain them, if not? References :
